What a busy year for the Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS). To get you updated, I will need to throw a lot of numbers and dates your way. Here we go!

The 2015 Coordinate Metrology Society Conference (CMSC) in Hollywood, Florida, was a great success. Forty-five exhibitors and a newly expanded Measurement Zone filled the nearly 25,000 sq. ft. exhibition hall. Twenty-two expert metrologists gave technical presentations to 440 attendees from 13 countries. Thank you to all of our sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees who welcomed retired Sgt. 1st Class Dana Bowman as he parachuted into the event and delivered the inspirational keynote address on “life without limits.”
The CMS was also proud to participate as an educational partner at the 2015 Quality Show, hosted by Quality Magazine at the end of October in Rosemont, Illinois. Two presentations were delivered informing the audience of the CMS Certification process, bringing more awareness to the program. During the trade show, Quality Magazine also kindly supported the first working meeting of the PrecisionPath Consortium for Large-Scale Manufacturing. The Coordinate Metrology Society and University of North Carolina at Charlotte received an Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMTech) grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to support this effort. The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 2016.
Mark your calendars for CMSC 2016, to be held July 25–29, 2016, at the Embassy Suites Conference Center in southeast Nashville. Planning and execution is well underway for this conference. The Call for Papers has just been released, so please submit those abstracts and tell us about your latest accomplishments. A new sponsorship opportunity is the Education Zone (EZ), which will complement the Measurement Zone (MZ), both located in the exhibition hall. Metrologic and Creaform will be partnering to graciously host the MZ and EZ, respectively.
The CMS Executive Committee is listening to our constituents by implementing a new method of awarding sponsorships. At preannounced dates, CMS will release a sponsorship, which is available to all exhibitors except the incumbent sponsor. Dates for the release of the Ice Breaker and Banquet sponsorships are Dec. 1, 2015, for general sponsors, and Dec. 29, 2015, for incumbents. On Jan. 12, 2016, the remainder of the sponsorships will be released for purchase, or Feb. 9, 2016, for the incumbents. On Feb. 2, 2016, attendee registration will open for CMSC 2016, and booths will be available for selection by exhibitors.
Enjoy the winter and the holidays!
