We have subcontractors that blend chemical products at remote locations and ship them directly to our customers. Although the blenders will add 98% of the ingredients to their mixing tanks, the final 2% is added directly to the finished 55 gal. drums and mixed individually. The blenders do not want to worry about reisual material from this 2% contaminating their equipment. My question is whether it would be OK (from an ISO 9001 view) to skip testing the individual drums for the presence of the last 2% based on past performance and the blender expertise and reputation. We would monitor performance and any customer complaints as well as perform periodic on-site audits.
