Quality Digest

I am the new Quality Control Manager for my company and we are ISO9001 certified. My predecesor was to begin working on the QS9000 Certification in 1997 (from little paperwork I have found). I am faced with needing to get this system underway and our company QS9000 Certified asap - the fact that the person before me did nothing with it isirrelevant to what needs to be done.

If you were in my shoes, how would you go about researching this, getting the groundwork laid, and working toward certification in a short timeframe??? My boss is looking for nothing short of a miracle out of me - any help would be appreciated. I have done some minimum research on software packages but that isn't in the budget. I feel like I haven't accomplished anything and all eyes are upon me to get this finished right away.
