› Expanding Registration

I'm working in a Division that has several large contracts. The management office for one of the contracts is currently registered to 9001:2000. This is a requirement of the contract.

Our desire is to register the whole division. My questions are:

1. Should we seek a separate registration for the division in order to prevent the risk of a failure in the division affecting the currently registered area? If we lose the current registration for any reason we will most likely lose the existing contract.

2. If we do seek a second registration, should we also create an entirely separate quality policy and manual or can we utilize the same for both registrations and jsut maintain separate lower level documents?

This certainly seems like an odd situation but there is always a chance that someone else has encountered it too. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
