I’m looking for how to check/calibrate NPT plug and ring gages. Is this something I can do or does it need to be sent out to a lab?

Hello, I calibrate my own NPT thread plug gages using the 3 wire method, and a supermic. I also calibrate my own taper ring gages, using plug masters. If you need more info. contact me. Rich Sternberg

There is a standard out there from the ASME. It is B1.2 and give the gage size limits for these
