› SPC in low volume and Six Sigma Implementation

I am a Six Sigma Green Belt and have the following questions :

1) I am about to join an aerospace firm which is planning to implement Six Sigma. For successful implementation of Six Sigma, is SPC (on the floor) a must? I believe, if we focus on specific projects, data should be collected for that specific project by the team and the team should not rely on production workers to provide SPC measurement data. Please comment.

2) How does SPC work in a low volume industry like aerospace where detructive testing is a strict no-no due to sheer cost of components? Further we would not get enough sample size to calculate control limits (might not even be needed!). Is it safe to to use an EWMA or Cusum chart for SPC control on the floor or are there any other methods? Please clarify. Thanks.

If you document ISO/TC 176/SC 2/N 544R2 at ISO site you can see how processes can be separated and identified.
That way is easy to put all your company processes in the types indicated in that document.
