Hi,
I am a software engineer assigned the job of studying the prospects of implementing six sigma initiatives in a IT company based in Chennai,India.
I understand the application of six sigma in manufacturing and service industries. But how is it applicable to a software company which is doing products related to ERP. How do we apply the six sigma concept in a software company. The life cycle of a project in a software company contains various phases. In which phase do we apply the concept. We already have a defect prevention system in place by our Quality department where our testers manually capture the defects made by the developers. We then reduce the defects by assigning it to the appropriate engineers.
Pls. help me how to implement six sigma initiative in such a scenario. Can you also suggest me any books which deal with implementation of six sigma in a software company?
