› Inspection Levels

This is not specifically 6 Sigma related but I hope someone can help me with this. For years I have understood that the General Inspection Levels in ANSI Z1.4 (I, II, III) relate to a confidence level with respect to the information one may infer from the inspection to be held. In all my studies of the Levels, I have never seen any treatment on this subject, other than in general terms. So, if I am conducting an inspection at Level II (assuming all aspects of the inspection are proper), I should have a certain conficence level in the results (e.g., 90%); then, if I elevate to Level III, my confidence level should go up (e.g., 95%). Anyone have any comments or want to shed some light on this? Thanks!
