› State/Fed Gov aid to small businesses for ISO9000 Certification

Can anyone provide a telephone number or email address to contact a California or Federal agency that provides aid for small businesses that wish to become ISO9000 certified? Thanks in advance...

Peso,

If you incorporate Six Sigma at the start of this new division you will not need to deal with inefficiencies that come with 6 Sigma incoporation. DFSS looks at your design phase and sets your program or process to function at the Six Sigma level.

ORIGINAL POSTING: We will be setting up a new division of the company. It will have its own newly hired management team and staff. We do not use Six Sigma currently. It is a start up division. Lean/Six Sigma seems like a method to evaluate and streamline existing companies with existing problems using history data and current practices. How can I start this new division with the benifits of lean Six Sigma. Do I need to practice inefficiency before I can fix it.

RESPONSE: The answer to your question is no! You have described an application of process Design for Six Sigma (DFSS). With this approach, a roadmap needs to be followed, which gives focus to designing the best possible process the first time.

With this approach many of the tools that are commonly associated with DMAIC Lean Six Sigma are used; however, the order for their application is different.
