› Quality Certification

I work for a small business that Sells and Services diesel engines but we also have a protion of the business dedicated to building diesel engine generators from 6kW up to 500kW. I am looking to get the generator portion of the business certified. Can anyone help with what type of Quality Certification I could use for this type of business that is good yet somewhat inexpensive.

If you are working in the field of automotive components and do any business with Ford, GM, or Diamler Chrysler, you or your supply chain will need to be aware of QS-9000. The QS-9000 standard and it's reference documents (SPC, MSA, PPAP, FMEA, etc.) can be obtained from the AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group). QS-9000 will eventually be replaced by ISO-16949, but the reference documents found in QS-9000 will continue to be used.

If, as part of the supply chain management, you are also performing audits of suppliers, you may consider having your audit group accredited to ISO/IEC 17020.....the international standard for inspection agencies. Contact me if you have questions about ISO/IEC 17020.
