In compliance to Element 4.5 of QS-9000, we make sure that obsolete controlled documents (i.e., job instructions, reference standards, etc.) are being pulled out from the work area. Then, we stamped the obsolete docs. with "Obsolete" and "For Reference Only" for reference purposes. However, we still do not have a system for how long are we going to keep the obsolete/for reference documents since we know that we do not have to keep them forever. In this regard, may I request for your help if what is the ideal retention period (being practiced) for obsolete/for reference controlled docs. or the acceptable period (by registrar) because we just focused our retention period to quality records.
