My company is in the begining stages of implementing ISO 9000/2000 and I am the selected representative. Our organization is hung up on Control of Documents. We have never implemented a ISO system and would like any advise that you can provide. We have put together our procedures, we just do not know how to tackle the beast of document control. Where, and how should we start?

If you are working in the field of automotive components and do any business with Ford, GM, or Diamler Chrysler, you or your supply chain will need to be aware of QS-9000. The QS-9000 standard and it's reference documents (SPC, MSA, PPAP, FMEA, etc.) can be obtained from the AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group). QS-9000 will eventually be replaced by ISO-16949, but the reference documents found in QS-9000 will continue to be used.

If, as part of the supply chain management, you are also performing audits of suppliers, you may consider having your audit group accredited to ISO/IEC 17020.....the international standard for inspection agencies. Contact me if you have questions about ISO/IEC 17020.
