› Corrective & Preventive Action Software

We manufacture Industrial Controls with about 150 employees. We have our corrective action systems -incoming (supplier issues), in-process (production) and Returns (from the fied) using Microsoft Access database systems independent of each other. I am looking for a software package that would allow us to combine these into one Corrective Action Database, any auggestions?

Thank you

ORIGINAL POSTING: I would like to know more about six sigma and I want some case studies of certain companies which have used six sigma with the data. This will help me in analysing the position of the organisation before and after using six sigma

RESPONSE: I suspect that this posting could generate a lot of responses, were people describe what they are doing and have seen. Here are some general thoughts that you might use for putting this all together.

Companies have generate a lot of money using the Six Sigma concepts; however, care still needs to be exercised when assessing this data. I have heard some say that we have saved 100 millon dollars; however, no one can seem to find it. Keep in mind that this type of statement is reflective of how projects are chosen. That is, are projects really pulled for creation by the business needs or is someone looking for projects that may or may not be in the company's bottle neck, so that they "look good" in the number of completed projects and accumulated "financial" savings.

It is not a matter of whether Six Sigma "works" or not. It does. The question is whether, for whatever reason, it can be done "right" in your company.

I suggest getting several books on the topic. I would do a search on amazon.com for Six Sigma books and then look at all the reviews as part of your filtering process to select a few books to buy and review. You could also do an amazon.com search by Six Sigma author, which gives you another strategy to select from the over 150 or so books. Some authors that come to mind are Pande, Pyzdek, George, Eckes, and myself. There are many more authors; however, these are some of the authors who have several books on the topic.

From these books you could hopefully consider different deployment options and whether this deployment option would work in your company.

Hope this helps.
