› Use of Hole gages from Starrett

Hi there,
I was looking at the hole gages that Starrett manufactures and I would like to get some info about them...
have any one of you used them already? are they adequate for quick sampling? what about accuracy?
Please advice.
Thanks

Hole Gages

Expanding hole gages are extremely useful.... as long as you keep a couple of points in mind:
(1) Accuracy and precision are very operator controlled. The ball version being slightly less so.
(2) Holes are normally not really round, so multiple readings are required to find the dimension of interest.
(3) Holes, likewise, are normally not of constant diameter along their length, so again multiple readings may be necessary.
(4) The utility of these gages is dependant on a multitude of issues which may, or may not, be applicable to your specific measurand.

It might be wise to procure a couple (they can normally be procured very inexpensively on eBay) and run some GRR's to see how they work in your specific case

Hi Lynn, Yes I'm inspecting
