Thread Calibration

What type of threads do you have? Are they rings or plugs? Thread calibration is one of the hardest things to accomplish, but not impossible. Of course you have to start with the right equipment which can run over $20k for just external thread (plugs and set plugs) calibration. If you are using pipe thread don't bother. Send them to a calibration lab and let them worry with them! Tapered threads are a bear and the normal technician should not have to be subjected to such horror! LOL. There are several good books on thread calibration and information (the Machinery Handbook is one). Down load a copy of Mil Std 120 (which is obsolete now, but still useful) and is now free. I don't remember which military site it is located, but if you can not find it. let me know. I have a pdf on my hard drive. Good Luck.

Have you checked the Machinists Handbook? Lots of information there.
