› Searching for calibration labs

When searching or researching for a gage calibration company what should you look for, when you do not know anything about the company? Do you take them at their word or do you go by their accreditations? I would like to find companys in the state of Indiana that do calibrations. Trying to lower cost for the travel time and shipping by getting people closer to me.

One of the better sources I found for measurement analysis on attribute gages is in "The Desk Reference of Statistical Quality Methods" by Mark Crossley

Setting up a Gage R&R for any type gage is basically the same. All require a statistical study that is structured to use an appropriate number of items, for an appropriate number of tests.

One source I found to help is:

http://www.minitab.com/resources/tutorial/gage/

There are likely other sources also, but this one looked to be comprehensive enough to help ensure a proper Gage R&R, and simple enough to use.

Hope this helps.

The Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) book of the QS9000 series offers a section (6 pages) on attribute gage study.
