We have several surface plates (more than 15) in our facility, and need to move them from lab to lab as projects are completed. The majority of them are 36" x 36" or larger.
Some of the surface plates are (three-point) mounted on wheeled stands that can be moved from lab to lab. The wheels are then raised to provide a solid and secure mounting.
Other surface plates are (three-point) mounted on stands with solid feet- these are moved with a fork truck with the forks under the stand.
All surface plates are calibrated on a yearly basis.
Questions: Does moving a surface plate on a wheeled stand void the calibration?
If we move the "unwheeled" stands with a fork truck, does moving void the calibration?
Any direction you could provide would be helpful.
