My company has been told recently by one of our customers that we must use a calibration facility that is "certified to ISO/IEC 17025 by an A2LA entity registration body". We presently use a company that has ISO 17025 accreditation but not by A2LA. What is the difference between an A2LA ISO 17025 calibration facility and a calibration facilty that has an accreditation to ISO 17025 through another service? Is this just the ignorance of the customer talking? If there is a difference, why does ISO allow this?
