We would like to be able to calibrate our thread plug gages in house.
A couple of years ago I spoke to the quality manager at a company that makes the gages. I told him that I wanted to be able to calibrate our thread gages in house, but that I couldn't justify spending $20,000 for a supermike. He told me that they used linear gages with a stand, amplifier, and calibrated thread wires. He told me that he was pretty sure that all the equipment could be purchased for under $2500.
He gave me part numbers for the equipment that they were using, but when I tried to order the necessary parts, I found that most of the parts were no longer manufactured.
I let thing slide after that, but now I'm back on the task. Can anyone help me put together an economically feasable way to calibrate thread plugs?
