In response to our June article "The Elephant in the Operating Room" one reader wrote in:
"You have to remember, Doctors are trained to ignore quackery and unproven methodology. They prefer to stay in the realm of fact and hard data. It would be unethical of them to follow an unproven initiative [six sigma] that does not even have a universally accepted standard or criteria. "
